( 좋아하는 화가 ) Lena Rivo

우연히 펫북에서 Lena Rivo 라는 화가를 알게 된다.

인터넷을 찾아보니 Portugal에 거주하는 여류 화가인데 유화 그림도 그리지만 Gouache,아크릴 그림도 많이 그리고 있다.

그림이 전반적으로 단순하지만 칼라가 아름답고 회화성이 풍부하여 배울 점이 많아 여기 옮긴다.

 

그녀의 홈페이지에 보니 그림에 대한 철학을 아래처럼 이야기 하고 있는데 간단히 요약해보면 그림을 그릴 대상을 

볼 때 그 대상의 특별한 분위기를 잡아내려고 노력하고 그림은 가능한 한 단순화 시켜 그 분위기를 최대한

살리려고 한다는 이야기. 대상을 보면서 추상적으로 생각하여 재미있는 대비와 칼라의 조합을 생각한다고.

사실 요즈음 내 그림 그리는 것을 보면 과도하게 Ultramarine Blue color 를 사용하고 자꾸 묘사를 잘 하려고 하다보니

그림이 전반적으로 어두워지고 회화성이 없는 그림이 되어 가고 있어 스스로 불만족스럽게 생각하고 있던 차에

이 글과 그림들을 보면서 뭔가 개선할 점을 생각해보게 된다.

 

In my work, I always try to convey the feeling of the scene I am painting. Light and color inspire me the most. No matter what subject I’m working on, I strive to capture the unique mood of the scene, keeping the painting as simple as possible so that unnecessary details don’t distract the viewer from absorbing the feeling of the scene.

Anything can become my subject because when designing my pictures I try to think abstractly and look for interesting contrasts and color combinations. Fortunately, here in Portugal, I am surrounded by splendid nature, picturesque villages and ports, so I never feel a lack of subjects to paint.

I love to work on location along the Portuguese coastline, painting the blue ocean waters and fishing ports. When I feel the urge to use more vibrant colors, I set up still life arrangements and paint in my cozy studio.
